Android on HTC Imagio (Whitestone) using Blackstone info
Would it be possible to use the information that already exists for porting Android onto the HTC Blackstone to port Android onto the HTC Whitestone (Imagio)? I was told that these two phones are the same as far as hardware goes.
I posted this question in the "Whitestone Android It Booted!!!" but I wanted to start a new thread geared toward using the info that already exists for Porting Android onto the Blackstone at http://www.htc-android.com/search.ph...ll&author=&fid[]=5&sc=1&sf=all&sr=posts&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=300&t=0& submit=Search Also, how many people are interested in trying the Android OS on the Imagio. I have attached a poll to see what the numbers look like. Please vote. Admin, regarding posting the same question in two places, if this is against forums rules or just not appropriate, please delete this thread. UPDATE!!!!! Edvard, So, to the topic at hand. I read the following from http://www.connect-utb.com/ "So a new version of Android for your HTC Diamond, Touch Pro, Blackstone, Topaz and Rhodium is now available. There’s not that much to speak of but it includes quite a few updated apps and if you combine it with the latest rootfs, initrd and kernel image you should get a pretty decent experience. So, rush on over to the download page and grab the the latest version and change check out the change log. Then be sure let everyone know how it differs from the previous one! Enjoy!" This was written by you I assume on March 31, 2010. I read the part about a version of Android being available for the Blackstone. This is what caused me to ask the initial question based off of someone telling me that the hardware for the blackstone and whitestone were the same. I have just reviewed the hardware for both phones and they are NOT the same. The Blackstone does not have any buttons on the side of the phone at all. The Blackstone has 4 touch sensitive buttons on the bottom of the screen. Whitestone has 5 mash-able buttons on the bottom of its screen. So, I apologize for ever asking the question. I should have done my due diligence from the beginning. It is obvious that someone with an HTC Imagio that knows how to port Android is going to have to solve this problem. Re: Android on HTC Imagio (Whitestone) using Blackstone info
What makes the android work so well is Snapdragon and 1GB ram. The Imagio can not replicate that kind of performance because of the lack of that kind of hardware. The only way to truly enjoy an Android performance is to sell your Imagio and buy the Incredible.

U are right! Snapdragon and a lot of RAM its a great combination, but for example there are some phones out there running Android 2.1 and have almost same reference as IMAGIO... Look at this video, is HTC Hero and its running smoothly and good!

There are so many phones running android without the snapdragon and the same ram specs as the Imagio... It's just the fact that they have Android builds designed for them and the Imagio does not. |
