Prevent screen lock on app-by-app basis?
I hope this isn't a dumb question that I should have been able to find on my own, but I'd like to add wmplayer.exe as an application that will prevent a screen lock from occurring on my Imagio.
I thought I saw something somewhere out here, or by browsing around the registry on my device, that has a list of processes that if active and in the foreground will prevent the device from locking (aka Google Maps), but I can't find it anymore. The reason I ask is that I grew tired of the HTC music implementation, the AudioManager_eng process seems to really kill my device and I've gone back to just using Windows Media Player. WMP 10 with a decent skin (http://sixsixfive.deviantart.com/art...55593?offset=0) seems to be a great deal more functional and less soft-reset-required than the HTC implementation. The physical volume +/- controls are properly granular, closing the app doesn't force me to ultimately soft-reset the device , etc. The only thing I'd really like it to do that it doesn't is prevent the device from locking while it's active since I tend to skip songs a lot on my rather massive playlist ![]() I do apologize if I should know this or have found it on my own. Thanks!! |

Re: Prevent screen lock on app-by-app basis?
There is a little app from a developer at XDA named OldSap. It was made to keep your device from going to sleep. You can try it out. I know it is not exactly what you are looking for- but maybe until you find a better solution? Make sure to use OldSap No Sleep and not OldSap No Sleep Wifi (as this only prevents the Wifi from sleeping [i think]).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=483149 It does not do app by app. But you can turn it on when you are listening to tunes and turn it off when you are done. |

Re: Prevent screen lock on app-by-app basis?
Thank you both for the suggestions, I truly appreciate it! I've tried both options, and while neither is really having the effect I'm looking for, I am grateful for the advice and gave them both an honest try
![]() If I find what I thought I found before again, I'll certainly post it. I know it's there somewhere. For example, after playing with SU2U for a couple days and then reverting back to the original lock system (SU2U wasn't my cup of tea like S2P), Google Maps would get locked. Re-installing Google Maps made it "lock proof" again, so I'm fairly certain it's not an API they're calling in the app and some type of setting somewhere. Oh well ![]() For now, I'm pretty happy with the skinned WMP. My .asx playlist is FAR too large for WMP to digest (crashes trying), but taking the couple extra 'clicks' to select My Music / All Music / Play does make it a very nice dedicated player facsimile compared to the HTC Music app for me. Not the end of the world. Just wanted to make sure to follow up and let you know that I did appreciate the responses! |
