Ok..i dl and installed the black flip outline cab, installed the mystery clock cab, and installed an analog clock cab..and the only thing that showed up seems to be the mystery clock. When I uninstalled all three..I'm left with the background clock image...clear background..but still have the borders very visible which i can't stand... and it won't allow me to completely uninstall the black flip outline....i have no idea what to do now.

Cookie Mod Tabs will do that for you. Check the post 53 and on. If you are running NRGZ energy roms, there's a version that's already cooked in.
