Re: Manila Sense 2.1 / 2.5 *Updated Feb 15, 2010*

I though I might respond to some of the recent posts with my own experiences.

First, I had a very difficult time getting the latest sense cab to install; I had the same error message as 'argentinito'. That was after performing a hard reset. It did finally install after several tries but I cannot tell why it suddenly worked. I will say that given the size of the cab you probably have to copy the cab to your storage card and install it to device memory from there. Also, all the cabs needed to get this to work have to be installed to device memory.

Second, after using this for a day I find that the performance is not as good as the previous sense 2.5 cab. It seems very slow at times. You definitely have to have a lot of patience, especially after a soft reset. It can take several minutes for TF3D to boot up and even after the home screen displays it may take a few more minutes before the slider will respond and the other tabs will respond.

Third, I haven't experienced the duplicate icons that others have reported, at least not observable if I press the windows button. BTW, the windows button opened a HTC-skinned programs interface in the stock TF3D, instead of the MS honeycomb, because the version of TF3D that came with the Imagio was written for our specific phone with its physical windows button (there is no programs tab in our stock TF3D version). My guess is that the sense 2.5 version of TF3D doesn't have this same skinned program interface because it wasn't written for our phone and because HTC placed some quick launch buttons to the home screen. In addition, if some people think they are missing programs after doing a hard reset and intalling sense 2.5, it may be because your programs are on the storage card and their shortcuts would have been removed from the startup folder after a hard reset.

Is anyone having trouble with the music tab with sense 2.5?

What problems do you mean? It takes a few minutes for the music tab to work after a soft reset. Even after you see album art the controls will not work right away. Someone else posted here that their songs were stopping after playing about 30 seconds but I haven't had that problem.

So I upgraded to sense 2.5 and installed the sms fix. With the sms fix installed, everything locks up and causes problems. Once I removed the sms fix it was running smooth and I am able to us WM sms as before but not the HTC messaging. Is there any way to get the HTC messaging interface from sense 2.0 into the sense 2.5. I like being able to use WM sms sometimes and I really don't like the sense 2.5 sms interface, was running way to slow and not working for me...

Is the MMS fix a true fix or disabling the HTC messaging like it did before? I went back to stock as I didn't like the side effects of disabling HTC messaging so I wanted to confirm this before trying the latest version.
