Re: Android 2.0
There is an Android 2.1 ROM being worked on mainly at XDA-devs, but it's not exactly what I would call properly functional. Basically, they have gotten phone, SMS, possibly GPS, and wi-fi working, but no data (either 1xrtt or EV-DO). And of course none of this is entirely stable.
From my reading of the relevant thread there, it's *very* hacked together; has stuff crammed in it from the current 1.5 CDMA Hero build. The main problems seem to be the fact that the Linux kernel that's been leaked is older than what the current 2.0 (or is it 2.1?) kernel is supposed to be, and also the fact that the various phone/radio drivers really need to be recompiled and/or recoded in order to work efficiently (or even at all). The fact that a lot of the drivers are proprietary and therefore don't have source code released complicates things. |
Re: Android 2.0
I think this thread could count as 2.1 even though it is about 2.0 hmm....
