Cant format Micro SD Card

Ok i have a Sandisk Micro SD 8GB Card microSDHC card that when i try to format in windows it tells me cant format. I put it my Sprint HTC Hero and try to format it through there and that doesnt work.

how can i get this to work in my Hero?

When you try to format it you don't have its folder open do you?

If not then the card may be defective.

In the phone it must be unmounted from the phone before being formatted.

I tried formatting in windows, then put it in my phone, but it wouldn't recognize. then I just reformatted using the phone. Probably a linux/windows thing.

Are you rooted? If so, have you tried from the RA?

ok thanks, i will try to do it while the phone is unmounted, i believe i had it mounted when i was trying to do it.

Can I ask the reason you are trying to format it? Is it brand new or were you experiencing problems?

im putting it in my phone and want to format it just incase and then transfer the org files from my sd card i have now to the new one

Ok,

so i tried to format it while the phone was unmounted and no luck, windows will not format it also and i cleaned the contacts to make sure it was clean.

im lost now on what else i can do
