Start Fresh?

Ok, every time a little update comes out, I feel like I have to spend an entire day getting everything back to normal. On top of that, I feel like I could run every back up app/program available, and still have to do everything they were supposed to do in the first place. Is it apps2sd that is messing everything up?

I'm pretty much giving up, and just want to start out fresh again, from when I first rooted my phone. What do I need to do?

What? When I update my rom everything is the same! I can just go on with my day after about 5 minutes haha!

Yeah, you're running Fresh. I'm running MoDaCo, thinking about switching, but probably gonna start fresh as I feel like there's a ton of extra crap on my phone.

I guess it's the WIPE before the update that's causing all the problems actually. But I thought i could just run my Sprite Restore and get right back to where I was. But not even close!

Ok...

Nandroid restore to first nandroid you made.

Get Stock RUU from my tips thread and run it.

Hard reset the phone

You will be back to original. Now you can re-root and put the rom of your choice on the phone.

I suggest Fresh because they are making moves man, always updating us. Reminds me of the TP and Mighty days.

lol. Yeah they seem to be moving pretty quickly. I just nandroided back to an hour ago, and that put everything back to how it was before I updated modacos rom, I wonder if the update stuck...? sprite backup does not handle rom changes AT ALL.

can i start fresh without having to reroot? or is that the best way, flash RUU, hard reset, then root, then flash fresh? or couldn't I just flash ruu, wipe via root, then flash?

Re: Start Fresh?

No, the update will be gone because of your restore. But update is included in Fresh builds.

Yea you can wipe via root. No big deal.

Ok, so if I wipe via root, doesn't matter what ROM I have, soon as I flash fresh, all that other crap is gone (modaco 1.1, fresh .5 overlay, and modaco 1.6c)? I just don't wanna leave a bunch of junk behind! I'm also just gonna repartition my SD card too. Copy some of the needed files over afterwards...

So when we flash the original ruu we have to root again but does the recovery flash stick? or do we have to do all that again? just curious.

I havent gone down that path since I had my phone.. I just hard reset before a flash sometimes and reinstall my apps.. thought that was starting over..hehe

dont mean to jack your thread but I figured it was related :)

haha no jack. it's cool. county is nice enough to answer questions so fast you feel like you're IMing him.

I'm actually back to a smooth running modaco 1.1 + fresh .5 overlay right now so I'm gonna try a flash FRESH entire ROM right over the top of it all. screw starting fresh unless i have to!

If you wipe via backup you will still be on modaco rom. If you go RUU you will be bone stock, you can root, flash recovery, and wipe via recovery then you can flash, if you want a completely fresh start. Why are you partitioning? Are you going to A2SD2 or leaving it?

Make sure you backup before partitioning.

If you flash original RUU you are just like when you got it out of the box. The recovery image will be gone. You will have to re-root and flash the recovery image.

You don't have to hard reset before flashing but some people like to.
