Is it possible (WinMo)

Just curious if it would be possible to hack the Hero into running Windows Mobile. I mean, the hardware seems capable, are drivers the only reason we can't?

Because I like the hardware, but right now Google and I are not on good terms, since I had to swap the Hero out at Best Buy, and Android market is wanting me to rebuy all the apps i bought, and Google Checkout Support is non-existant, been 3 days without reply.

Then you are doing something horribly wrong. I have swapped once and hard reset 4 times and every single time, not only my pay apps but my free apps are in the "my downloads" section ready for me to restore my phone to its former glory. I don't know what you did, but its still not worth ruining this phone. Take it back and get a tp2.

its possible but u would need a team of devolopers or one devoted person to port it over and make drivers for the device!! also time need and money!! the hero is like a re skined diamond!! hardware is not that far off!! so if u want it right now just get a diamond!! this is the second time i have posted this statement!!

if i had anymore space i would add this to my sig "Want winmo on ur hero? Buy a Diamond!!"

I don't know what I did wrong but the My Downloads was empty. Yet when I go to re-buy the app, it shows up in the very same Google Checkout account, so I don't know.

At any rate, it isn't really about which OS is better, this is a PPC hacking forum isn't it? Just curious on if it is possible, not feasible. :P

People like to put linux on devices that aren't meant to run linux, like the DS, the PSP, PocketPCs, ect. Why not reverse the process? I find it fun to run stuff on a device that wasn't meant to, and thats the main purpose of this thread.

That said, the closest processor match I have found (according to phonenews.com wiki) is the HTC Snap.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.5; en-us; A6277 Build/CUPCAKE) AppleWebKit/528.5+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.2 Mobile Safari/525.20.1)

Yea usually people put Linux on things bc its open source. Pitting Windows on would require a license purchase I think.

nail on the head. putting wm on a device it never shipped with would stepping over that very thin line.
