Rooting Telus Hero?

Anyone tried to rooting the Telus Hero? If so, could anyone please share the information?
I follow the steps on xda, but it uses perfect SPL, I am not able to write recovery img to the phone.
I think a downgrade is required. Anyone tried to downgrade the Telus hero?
I'm afraid that Telus hero is somehow differ from the GSM hero.
