Couple of questions about the Hero

I am debating replacing my TP with this phone. I do have a couple of questions about it though. What are the chances of a kitchen being developed for this phone? Any at all or is the htc version of android just not built for that? If no kitchen will be forthcoming, is there an easy to get rid of the bloatware that sprint puts on all of their phones?

the hero isnt rooted yet, they are flashing the gsm version though. i have a tp and hero and the hero doesnt get much use, some people love it, im not one of them. the adonis or leo[if sprint gets leo] is my next upgrade. bought the hero with no upgrade for a good price so im not that unhappy about it. its just a eyecandy phone imo, i think it needs the 800 processor because i think its laggy in some cases. its a fun phone but not as fun as my tp.

I forgot one of the most important questions for me. Does it have a version of Office Mobile and will it sync with Outlook contacts and calendar?

no kitchen but i hear they're working on one, same for the bloatware, soon although you may not even have to get rid of it, its not all over the place and taking up space so its easy to hide, unless your goal is to get the ROM storage back

yes it will sync with outlook contacts and calendar (i have yet to achieve this but i haven't taken a shot at fixing it yet but there are lots of users that say it works great). out of the box it has "quick office" which is just a document viewer. if you need to create and edit docs Dataviz has their documents to go available on the market for $30 a little steep but if you used office on WinMo like i did, its worth the money

there won't be a kitchen but cdma custom roms will be coming. i do know there working on a root program for it. as far as lag from what i hear a firmware update from htc/sprint should fix it.

Re: Couple of questions about the Hero

i am yet to find out what lag these people are talking about?? (that sums them up to a total of 2 )

My hero and a lot of Sprint users are experiencing a very fast, responsive, and snappy device thanx to HTC's optimizations. Yes, i have seem slight hiccups from time to time but in my experience its not at all laggy or slow. Its defenetly faster than my old Touch Pro and my Palm Pre. What i want from sprint is that donut 1.6 that just rolled out but there is no date for the upgrade yet...

+1 no real issues as of yet. This is the best phone I've ever owned.

EDIT : The phone is the last thing I use this "device" for, lol.

+1 here. seems pretty quick and responsive too me. I think Sense runs circles around TouchFlo in terms of performance.

This is almost true for me. I had a Pre a couple of months ago and the only thing that annoyed me about it was the keyboard. I would like to have it with me now so I could use it along with the Hero.

Re: Couple of questions about the Hero

I have decided my next phone will definitely be android. I have been looking at the hero but I am now also possible interested in the samsung moment. So I have one last question about the hero. On the Touch Pro, one of the input options is the Letter Recognizer. Is this sip available on the hero as well?
