"Where" (GPS based app with location information, on stores, dining, tourist attractions etc.)

Is another good one, great for touring or rediscovering your city. Its like Yelp on steroids. I think it includes a Yelp app too if I'm not mistaken

Bookmarking Google Reader & Using the bookmark Widget is the best I've used so far. Looks great on the HTC Browser.

Anybody know of an app like slide to unlock where we can preview a notification and view it by unlocking or be able to dismiss it without having to unlock?

PURE Rss is pretty good.

NewRob is also good, connects with google reader (i like how it inbeds the website when clicking on a link instead of opening the actual browser)

Handcent SMS has sms popup giving you this ability for sms. I want the ability for calender items but I will settle for text for now! Try it out, its free and very useful!

I like Abduction it is hilarious.

Also, ASTRO, a much needed file explorer.

Key Ring is actually really useful and helped clean out my money clip haha.

Task Manager is very helpful and should have been included.

Last one, A market place haha. It is intuitive and I can't wait to try the one on 1.6!

I'll try handcent, but yeah I want something that will handle ALL notifications. Or at least give us access to the sliding notification screen while its still locked. Know what I mean?

You want a WM6.5 lock screen. Haha. Handcent will break through and you can reply without sliding and even adds speech to text capability.

I would keep my eyes open it probably won't be long before someone hears this.

Klaxon is on android now, I always wondered where he went. Has anyone tried his alarm yet?

Yes I just tried this and we have SPEECH TO TEXT!!! I love it...lol Kind of off but it works for short phrases. It is convienient. And astro file explorer works great. Anything to play avi's?

the apps that really blew me away were "Argumented Reality" Browser by Layars

and the "Barcode Scanner" to scan barcodes and look it up on the new when it comes to the product, prices, brand etc.

The barcode scanner is a lot of fun. Check out Adyno, if you're an automotive enthusiast. It maps your HP, 1/4 mile times, and lateral g's.

No on divx so far. I hope its here soon. Only drawback I've found so far. Hope vlc drops a media player!

Same here, just the remote app. Anyone know where I can find a free app to play flash videos off of sites such as break.com?

We are supposed to be able to play those. I haven't tries but the browser has flash. Maybe look in settings and turn off mobile mode.

ak47 is fun, beer cloud too, but you need the barcode scanner installed prior. Pandora is nice too.

I found the scanner app had issues with barcodes under plastic. Try different lighting and keep very still.

Ok, maybe some geniuses out there can help me... I had this program, SMSpam (a program you can use to send the same text to someone as many times as you set it to) and I loved it. I know, many of you think of it as annoying, but when your gf insists she loves you more, setting it to send her 100 texts saying you love her more quells the debate. Or, on my dads 50th bday, I sent him 50 annoying texts to rub it in that he's an old fart. And, the last reason for having this... My roommate used my phone to call his ex and she got drunk and proceeded to call me repeatedly, and every other call was "Is Brian there?" and then "I am drunk, why did I call you?" So, having it been a week day, I sent her 1000 texts saying to quit F___ing calling....

So... With all that being said, anyone know how I might go about getting this program http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-...ad-smspam.html running on my Hero? Many thanks!

the Hero is running Android software so you won't be able to get that specific program to run on your phone. someone is going to have to write a new program from scratch for Android

Yes I had that app as well. It was hilarious. I actually got a new TP with that. They didnt know what was wrong with the phone...lol. You can try and Pm the developer over at Xda about porting it over. Here's his user profile over there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=1733481

ok i got my hero today (wooohoooo) after fighting it to sync with outlook (for about 4 hours) i finally get up and running smoothly and am adding things to it and adjust ringtones and all that fun stuff. i suddenly came to a screeching halt when i try to find a place to put a ringtone in for categories.... there is no option to put ringtones on categories???? is there an app to make it do that?

Get a file manager like Astro File Explorer..it works great for me especially for finding files like custom ringtones..Just make a new folder when u mount your hero with your PC..Label it ringtones, disconnect your phone from the Pc, go to programs and find Astro File Explorer and wallah your folder with all your ringtones and everything else on your sd card

Key Ring for the win. I hate those cards, I always forget or lose those cards. Not anymore! I scanned all my cards in, but I haven't tested in the store yet.

I have been enjoying:

KeePassDroid - A KeePass Password safe client for Android
Meebo IM - IM client
Twidrod - For twitter, much faster then Peep
Astro File Manager
Useful Switchers - 'Quick' toggle settings like WiFi, GPS, Ringer volume. But I think it takes to long to load, when there are free alternatives.
Android Irc - A usable android irc client. Never found one I liked for WM
Taskiller
Shop Savvy

i'll admit it :( i use it, but not by choice. a lot of my customers are nascar fans so i have the app set up on my phone more to show the app than to show the phone but alas, probably not a good enough excuse....

Not yet, they are on ROM. Until it's rooted we may be able to remove the shortcut, but I haven't looked into it.

Hey all, is there an app that plays .wmv files? I have ripped a bunch of my movies into PDAWMV format for my TP2 but now have the Hero. If not, what format do I need to have my movies in?
