Clicking the link just sent me to a download page. Handcent does this for texting and includes stt. But its a great idea.

Weird, maybe it does that when viewing from a mobile browser. From my PC it takes me to their site.

But uhh, Handcent READS your text messages AND emails to you with voice? I knew it has a simple STT which isn't all that great. But this app basically doesn't allow you to text while you're moving I think. Or at least let's you turn a feature on so you can't. All the while reading you your text and email messages too you.

If you hit the speech bubble it will read the text to you. There is no reason to be negative, I was just saying handcent will do this for free on "text messages" which I also stated. I saw that there was a pro version of the app you posted making me think it isn't free. Another problem is, I don't want my services cut off by anything! That simple STT is free and actually works pretty good for me if I speak clearly. Also with this app I see no mention of STT which whether Handcent does it well or not it at least has it.

Haha, sorry but I wasn't being negative. I was sincerely asking if it had that cuz I didn't know. I thought it only did STT. And again, in MY experience it rarely gets it right unless it's REALLY quite and I do really short sentences. Then again I haven't really played with it much. I'm gonna try that feature out on handcent now.

Oh haha ok. Yea it does and it works well, you will need the TTS extended service. The STT is kinda random sometimes, but most I have used are haha.

Extended service? What, is that another piece of the app you gotta download? Or part of a paid version of the app?

HandCent Question:
Is there a way to make all the handcent sms's show up under the "people" sms area? I can only see the sms's that I sent from the built in app...

No. It is not a paid version of anything. Finally, as I posted earlier in this thread, we have the ability to have the TTS library from google on the Hero. It wasn't available to the Hero til the other day. Many apps can access it, and its free.

I removed some stuff from my post that sounded a little too harsh. I spoke about this a few posts ago, everyone should have it because no app can use TTS without it or their own version of it. So I will digress, and finish with Handcent is FREE, all parts of it are FREE, the library it uses for TTS is FREE, and it does STT. The problem with the app you spoke of is that it removes a feature from the phone, thats why I was giving out another option. I don't want to have my texting disabled for any reason.
