Thanks guys for the info, gonna check out those task managers. Anyone remember which wifi router app was the one said to be working on android, and how much it costs?

I'd be interested in the wifirouter app as well. It's not something that's gonna be in the market Im sure. Im gonna start looking around for that one.

So one of the issues i'm having right now is that at the store I had the sales guy transfer my contacts from my mogul onto the phone instead of just doing the google sync which created a ton of duplicates once I sync'd up with google when I got home. So I went through all of my contacts and tried deleting them but getting an error stating that I have exceeded the amount of deletes for my gmail account. For some reason it's stating that i'm trying to delete 250 contacts when I know it's not that much. I need to check gmail online to see if I can just delete them from there.

And the last thing is how do I close apps? I was so use to the task manager in WM. It seems as though android keeps some apps open running in the background and others it closes? Like I opened up googlemaps and it turned on the GPS but I can't figure out how to close it. It seems like it continues to run in the background and I can see the GPS still running on the top bar. The only way I got it to turn off is by turning off GPS fom settings. Anyone know if Android has a task manager or something like it?

If you don't want to display the google contacts, go to people (under the programs menu), and click the menu button, and click view, then remove the check under Google. I did just what you said, and had the same issue. I used HTC Sync to get my outlook contacts over. Very easy process.

I used a free task manager, titled Task Manager. It's not quite as fancy, but it gets the job done. Also, after doing some research, I found out the way to "close" apps is to use the back arrow, until you are back at your home screen. This works for all apps, except the browser. If you install a task manager, you will see what I mean.

Grrr I can't find the post that explained how Android manages processes in such a way that it will close them as it needs memory, making closing apps all the way not necessary. I remember it pointed me here developer.android.com

I've been using task killer..

I've been using TaskPanel for my task manager. I noticed when I do a soft reset the phone loads all sorts of programs in the background (IM, messages, gmail, browser, shopsavvy, etc). It looks like it is loading certain programs in the RAM so they start up faster.

For those of you syncing your contacts with google, you'll notice it syncs ALL your contacts (which is pretty much anybody you've ever emailed in gmail). To have it only sync your "My Contacts" go into your phonebook, click the groups tab, click menu, and sync groups. I had a little problem with this at first... just thought I'd share.

Thanks. Ill check that out.

One thing I wanted to ask you all is, how do you change the notification for email only? Sometimes I want no notification for email at all, and sometimes I want a different sound than the one I use for text messages.

Im sure it's something simple that I am missing. Thanks.
