i was looking forward to this phone, and only reason I switched to the ED450 plan was for the Palm Pre and hoping to switch to the Hero when it comes out. But I REALLY REALLY hate the new look. The Sprint HERO better cost $350 after a few months of being released! SO UNHAPPY TODAY :(. Why does Sprint always get the uglier versions..i.e. TP2

I admit I didn't want to a phone that didn't have a physical keyboard but I might get this phone seeming it has Android...And the TP 2 is way too much...LoL..

Has anyone found out what the retail price will be? I think it'll be more than $279 because that just deducts the rebate. What about the host of instant savings? I'm not eligible for upgrade yet, so wondering what I'd have to pay to get this bad boy.

I think it looks great. I liked the redesign minus the gold, and now there's no gold. Way to go Sprint. The device has a very unique and distinctive look. Very tempting... this might hold me over until the snapdragon or tegra phones arrive.

Most likely it will be about 500-600 on eBay. Majority of the time, when a phone is released the actual value is about $250-$350 more. Depending on popularity and other things like actual cost of the device. Didn't they say the Palm Pre cost under $100 to manufacture? Palm Pre at most was @ $500 and dropped to $300-$400 extremely fast.

My guess is $500. or a bit more on release date.

One very nice thing about this phone is the lack of a glossy finish on the phone. That will mean the only fingerprints on this device will be on the screen. And a screen protector will help cut down on that, as well.

I don't think the original HTC HERO was fingerprint magnet..it was a gloss finish but not the same gloss finish that was on the old iphone 3G

Based on reports, only the white version had the teflon coating, which prevented fingerprint smudges. I don't think the other colors had it. But for overall cleanliness presentation on mobile devices, satin > glossy.

Edit: After doing some research, the phone, regardless of color, has the same coating the iPhone has, to prevent smudges, and fingerprints. It did a better job of hiding the prints, due to the less glossy nature of the phone itself.
