This is true. And it was that way before the Evo came out as well. There are already some Froyo roms to be played with, far from finished but there are people committed to make it run on the Hero still.

I'm still here, I just pop in occasionally as my Hero runs well and I often dont need too much help on it.
I am running one of the Froyo roms and it is surprisingly stable. Though I think the Hero's hardware kinda takes away from it, I saw some loss in battery life and performance. I do like alot of it's features though, maybe a future release will fix those two things in the future. The only *broken* thing is the led notifications which can be fixed but I'm too lazy and dont care too much. I'm waiting for the epic, I wont be leaving this part of the forums for the EVO. No way no how, when I ran my 2.1 OC'd rom, my phone was equally as fluid as the Evo I played with in the story and for $10 less. Now I'll pay that extra monthly for a physical keyboard, better GPU, and higher resolution screen...Yessir I will
