Yup. the Hero is a piece of crap.
My son got one December 29th 2009. The screen started acting up about a month and half ago then all of a sudden stopped working all together. Sent it to HTC, they fixed it or exchanged it and he got the replacement last friday. This one did not even make it a week and the screen no longer responds to touch.
I have owned three HTC phones before this one and have beaten them to death without issues. My son takes meticulous care of this one and it's failed twice already. I am thinking twice now about replacing my own TP with the new evo. Seems like HTC is going down hill in quality. |

The hero is not only an amazing device simply for what it does, but the build quality is phenominal. I'm not sure what happened to your phone, but i CAN tell you that the fact that YOUR phone doesn't work properly does not reflect upon all Heroes, let alone the rediculous conclusion that all newer HTC phone and future HTC phones are/will be of lower quality. |
Re: Yup. the Hero is a piece of crap.
This surprises me. Like I said, I have never had issues with HTC phones...I don't even carry insurance on them...We even protected the phone with a screen protector and a hard plastic cover for the body. The touch screen is an issue for sure, particularly on this phone he has.
I am going to do my best to get HTC to send him either a new phone or a different phone (if he has the same one has before) |

Re: Yup. the Hero is a piece of crap.
If what you said is the case, do you have a phone number directly to sprint?

When you purchase a phone from a corporate sprint store, its their responsibility to ensure that it is free of manufacturer defects, and will warranty replace it. If you buy a phone at a third party retailer (radioshack, best buy, etc.) it is the responsibility of the VENDOR for 30 days, after which liability falls back to Sprint. Radioshack and best buy purchase the phones from sprint, not htc directly, and within 30 days, they will replace it but, after that, sprint is in control for the next 11 months. 888-211-4727 from any phone or *2 from a sprint phone. BTW, sprint has no way of knowing where you got the phone from. |

Dialed *2 Sprint is telling me I must take it to a store for a technician to look at it to see if it qualifies for a replacement. :( Then they will send a new one in 3 to 5 days.
