Don't take a rooted hero to sprint store.

So I was having a problem with my hero...it isn't giving me a usb notification in the pull down menu, so I cant hook it up to usb on my computer. Any ways I tried it on three different computers, and still no luck so I was by a sprint store the other day and decided to stop in and see if they knew anything about it. So they take my phone, which has the stock ROM loaded onto it, since I was having problems, i decided to try it and see if it would work on a stock ROM.

The first thing he does is take it and see if it is rooted, then he takes it in the back and tries to get the sprint RUU onto it which doesn't work because it wont mount. Well after about 30 minutes they come back and tell me that I have 2 choices 1) I can claim it on insurance 2) come back with it unrooted and they can order me one. No problem I came back the next day unrooted and guess what. The same guy who told me to bring it back unrooted tells me he has to call someone and see if they will take it back since they have A ticket with my phones serial as being rooted. Well he came back and lo and behold they aren't gonna take the phone back now. I guess it is my own fault for thinking that I could get some help with an issue I was having that, by the way, I am about 99% sure has nothing to do with being rooted since it started when the phone was overheating due to gps staying on in google navigation.

So now I am out $100 dollars, and the guys at sprint who were "helping" me just screwed me, thanks alot for all of your help...especially since they all had rooted heros also, I sort of figured it wasn't that big of a deal.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that the usb issues I could live with, however as another little side effect of my overheating my battery now only lasts about 6 hours on a full charge...running fresh 1.1, so now I have no choice but to claim it on insurance, and yes I have cycled it, and no it didn't help at all.

yeah but I assumed that since it was in the system I was sort of SOL

They will flag the device onyour account on the database. So they will tell you the same thing. Same thing happened to me when I Went to Sprint store to see if they will replace my cracked screen Mogul. They said to call Assurion. I went to another store and they told me that my phone is flagged as "do not replace". LOL.

Yeah, sorta feels like shady business to me. Especially since all of the techs had the same rooted phone as me. Pretty sure they don't walk in the store and flag there own phones...LOL.
