My upgrade is primed and ready and if it's less then $400 i'm going for it on day 1 (or whenever it's not sold out anymore) I would kill to have this b4 my vacation in may though

I just might be able to say good bye to my laptop for internet viewing with this, and good bye to my cable bill with the wifi.

If there's no additional fee from Sprint for being able to use their 4G network, I'm on board for this. I was planning on waiting for Windows Phone 7, but after seeing the videos Engadget put up, I don't think I can :P

My Diamond is my last Windows Phone. With what Microsoft is pushing with their lack of multitasking and closed development practices, I'm heading to Android. This is going to be one Badmuthashutyomouth handset.

An AMOLED screen would have been nice. Not really sure what practical use I'd get out of the EVO to be honest.

How many of you that are going to get it right away are in 4g coverage zones?

I'm in a Wimax coverage area (charlotte), but even if I weren't there's a whole lot to be excited about. 720p video. 8 megapixel camera on the back and 1.3mp on the front. 4.3" capacitive WVGA goodness. 512MB RAM, 1GB ROM. A built in Kickstand. 4G/Wimax is just icing on the awesome cake.

Now you know that won't matter when they have Telesales getting stuff way before the stores get their 1st batch delivery date. I will be calling and placing an order the 1st day this bad boy is available, my Hero might make a trip to Ebay.

Yeah, I don't know. Those features don't really do it for me.

8mp camera doesn't sound like a big deal. You'd be using it mostly for posting to the web or mms. 8mp is overkill for that. And the extra camera on the front... I can only think of one use, and probably wouldn't ever use that.

720p video recording... again, web/mms. Might be useful for a hobbyist, but then again, a hobbyist would probably have something better in his pocket for recording video.

4.3" screen... nice, but TFT LCD instead of AMOLED is disappointing.

Kickstand... *shrug*

I was pretty excited about the announcement of this phone, and it's exactly what I thought it would be, but after thinking about each of these features and their actual usefulness, I'll probably go with the nexus one when it hits Sprint. Especially if it gets here before the EVO does.

I think the main reason would be quicker updates for android. Waiting for Sprint to release firmware updates has always been torture, and each phone usually only gets one upgrade during its lifespan. I'd much rather be running the latest version of android than have a front mounted camera.

But, you guys are right about one thing, the EVO will be an upgrade for anyone coming from the Hero.

why does everyone feel the need to give the finger to iphone? iphone users have been ENJOYING their phone for years, while your still waiting for a device that isn't even out yet!

i was going to open up an account with T-Mo to get the HD2, but now thankfully i dont have to open up another phone line. im definitely picking the EVO up (even if there wont be wimax in my area for years). now the only real question is if i can wait for my premier customer upgrade in august or if i want to shell out full retail day one...

It's because we're angry. Very angry.

We're sick and tired of everyone with an iPhone automatically being cooler than us just because people know what an iPhone is. We are tired of hearing "is that an iPhone?" whenever we pull out our phones, and we are tired of the blank stares we get when we say "no its the HTC Touch Pro 2" (or whatever ridiculously long name that requires at least one mid-sentence inhalation we respond with). We are tired of attempting to explain what windows mobile is, or what android is. But most of all, we are tired of being the minority. We are tired of being in the uncool group even though we are much, MUCH more bad ass than all of those silly iphone users.

It's time for us to rise up and take a stand... we need to make sure that people know, but more importantly.... UNDERSTAND... that WE, the non iPhone users are LIKE, TOTALLY WAY MORE COOLER THAN YOU!

We demand proper recognition for the amount of money that we've paid for our phones. We want our pat on the back... and we want it NOW!

if people keep comparing a phone to the iPhone then everyone will compare it to the iPhone... let's keep the iPhone in a class of it's own and let other phones stand on their own merits...

This looks like it would be a nice phone especially if you live in an area with 4G coverage, which I happen to live in, anyone want to trade? HA HA

Saying that 8MP camera 3.2MP 780p camcorder is over kill isn't the point, I think the point is that it can take very high quality pictures and video if you want it... HDMI out, now that's sweet only if you can carry a high definition monitor with you... I think a great feature that missed this phone is having a built in DTV tuner, shoot even a HD-DTV tuner... wouldn't it be sweet to watch over-the-air TV on this thing, like if you're out and about and want to watch some football or something? Thankfully I have a job where I'm off on weekend!

I've always defended iPhone. But damn! Evo will make it obsolete. But I am not counting iPhone out yet. Not till they release their 4G. If Apple make their screen as big and slap their A4 CPU, Then we have a competition. If not, Evo will make iPhone it's bitch this year.

Well... I never understood the big disdain for the iphone. I have one along with a hero and a nexus and all have their strengths and weaknesses. I definitely wont count Apple out at this point because they have a VERY dedicated base of consumers and advertise well. Regardless, ill be getting this phone to add to my collection.

My girl has been jonsing for an iPhone....I now have 3 options:

Switch to AT&T, and I'll get a N1
Stay with Sprint, and get an Evo, and a N1/Evo for her
Let her go to AT&T, and I'll stick with Sprint, rockin' an Evo

Decisions....decisions....decisions.....
