Cant send photo

Ok so i take a picture with my phone ( Sprint Hero ) and when i try to send a message with a picture it tells me the file is to large.

how to i set it to take smaller photos or increase the size ?

when using the camera press your menu key then on the left, you'll have an option for resolution, turn the resolution to "1 M" or "Small"; the higher the resolution the larger the picture file size and I think anything over 1M, although I've never taken a pic on the 3M setting, will be too large but I can guarantee that the 5M will make the pic too big every time

Or you can use Handcent SMS and it will resize the photo for you so you dont lose pixel quality.

Or you could put a sweet 2.1 Rom and it will allow you to do up to 1.2MB on the picture send which would be more than enough
