And that date is?....

Edit: Nevermind saw it in another thread approx may 15... that sucks a$$

It wasnt that bad when there were only small differences but now 1.5 is getting very ancient. New apps keep coming out that require 1.6 and even 2.0 and above. At least toss us 2.0 or something til then I'll take 1.6.

I would take Vanilla 1.6 to tide me over until 2.1. This is getting rediculous. The carriers should have prepared for how rapidly this operating system evolves.

And the truth is we always have to wait forever for any updates..regardless of android or wm. even bb..on sprint..

If we didnt have sense on the hero would prolly be alittle sooner.. hopefully we will get some of the new stuff htc annouced for the updated sense ui..

oh well at least we pay less a month on sprint.. if i paid verizons prices.. i would be really pissed bout waiting for updates, lol I always find a positive on a negative..

I mean, granted, i am a third party retailer and pay $30 for 3000 minutes unlimited everything else and insurance, but it still rubs me the wrong way that the road block in recieving these updates is the company we pay monthly. Just my 2 pesos.

It never fails, as I've mentioned before the Hero is on the back burner for Sprint.
what will happen is there will either be a new phone released by Sprint before or immediately after the update. it never fails, Sprint will keep their current top notch phone's updates in the waiting while they prepare to release their newest phone. Think about this, the Touch Pro 2 was release just before the Hero and you never heard a word about the Touch Pro 2 being released. Once we get the Hero's 2.1 rom, the Hero will be old news and Sprint will have their next Android phone.

yea, its kinda sad when my old diamond can run a newer version of android than my Hero can. But May's not too bad for me. I just recently got the hero. So by time i get bored with what I have, 2.1 will be coming out. Then we can all complain about not getting a 3.0 update.

heh, have fun :) We'll keep the light on for you. I am getting sick of the constant waiting game, I've had this phone since November. Oh well...I just have to keep geek mode off for now so I don't start getting any more grumpy. Heh, my friend has a g1 with the rev 2 OS and constantly reminds me of that fact. I want to shoot him with a 'tater launcher.

Re: sprint hero 2.1 now in early 2nd quarter of 2010

I'm sick of waiting and wish I could play wit some other phone while I wait like a pre or something but I cant drop several hundred to play especially when I know I'm gonna have to drop some serious bread whenever a snapdragon phone is released.

BTW... does HTC hate keyboards now?... I've gotta be honest I miss having the option of sliding my keyboard out... I wonder if there are any plans for snapdragon android devices with slide out qwerty. I'd like to see Supersonic/Nexus One specs but with a nice TP2 Keyboard, I'll deal with the added girth that would be the perfect phone for me assuming they continue the trend of sexiness and dont make a Mogul looking brick of crap! I like when they had the choice like TP vs Diamond same general phone just giving option between thin or kb. Either way first snapdragon android on sprint im all over it!

I wish they'd hurry up, too, but no other US carrier has released updates for their 1.5/1.6 devices either. The droid/droid eris/G1/MyTouch 3G still have not received updates to 2.X (the droid has 2.0, but was prematurely announced it would get 2.1 last week). I think we will find Sprint to be in the middle of the pack in updating the Hero/Moment. Even the GSM Hero won't get 2.1 until the end of March. I'm not seeing how Sprint is behind in updating their Android devices when the only phone on the market with 2.1 is the Nexus One.

So can we at least get 1.6 to access more android apps/basic services?

Theres just no reason for the Tmobile G1 to have newer software than me thats all I'm sayin lol

The scary part is that Sprint is considering in store upgrade... that is going to suck big time.

WTF you've got to be kidding me! We should be able to find the update and do it ourselves still right?

I highly doubt it will be out in "early" 2Q. That would mean it would have to be put out in April. Cause in my book, anything past that isn't really early, now is it?

Could you imagine going to a corporate store and waiting for that. they already boast ! hour repair time waits for a small fail. Imagine fresh updates. Sorry But I smell a Disaster. What is great though it will be posted here faster than they could ever update

I hope there isn't a gap since HTC said they gave Sprint the code in November. I was wondering about that tho since HTC just announced some of the new Sense features. I wonder if those features have been there since Nov and are just now being demoed or if those are new and they've made changes since they announced Sprint had the update back in November? Either way just get it to my phone ASAP!!!

I disagree. With the exception of very few , most are unified . Its very resourceful and helpful. My Sarcasm is towards Sprints promises as I am a longtime user who has been in the arena of many empty Promises. I will say the Devs here hold true to the promises

I'll believe it when I finally boot it...

long with the Android OS 2.1 upgrade for this smartphone will come an upgrade to the latest version of Sense, which will add a new feature called FriendStream, designed to help users keep track of groups of their closest friends. It will bring together posts made to the most popular social networking services -- Facebook, Twitter, Flikr, etc.

I'm going to be ticked off if this web2.0rhea BS has been the hold up this whole time.

Why does it seem to be a Problem with me not taking the word 100% . I Am just asking for physical Software proof. If you look around most of the veterans feel the same way. No more jumping the gun. Stick around you will learn .

I second this. I may not have been around the block but I have never heard of that site before. I just would have thought Engadget would have this on their site as well.

My mistake. There is no better twitter client then HTC Peep. HTC take your time with PEEP and maybe one day it will climb from that #80 spot.

I'm almost %100 certain if I poll this forum if people want 2.1 or wait for social networking to be perfected the results will speak for themselves. WE DONT NEED WATER LET THE MF'er BURN.

I choose wait for Social Networking. Since my phone is slow and doesn't ring half the time and my text messages don't come through sometimes, social networking is definitely what I need to be waiting for.

Notrock you are correct, they can add friendstream as an update later.

Also, Athlet1c is right, its hard to believe when we get lied to all the time.
