News and Weather Genie from 2.1

Kellex over at droid-life posted a video and installer file for the News and Weather Genie widget from 2.1. They claim it works on 1.6. I tried installing it on my hero but just came up saying it "couldn't be installed on this phone". The widget looks really sweet, and I was hoping it would replace the HTC widget since that one's time is always off (even after setting it to the nearest major city, I still get clock issues). Do you guys know of any way of getting this installed?
