Wipe before Flash?
 

Anyone suggest doing a Hard Reset before flashing a new rom? I came from Winmo where hard reset before or after a flash was second nature. I have flashed fresh 1.0 and 1.1, then to modaco, back to fresh and now im using TTG rom. I was curious if anyone has seen a difference in wiping before flashing a new rom. Thanks.

my experiences? nothings different i think your okay mines been perfect. good luck though i doubt it will do anything, i am a winmo user too =D its slow.. lol

Ok so i went ahead and did a hard reset. Ran into problems. Programs i had installed previously are now showing up as gears and wont open. I knew it was gonna wipe all my programs but how come the menu shows gears for all of the previously installed programs? Any file that i can delete that will remove the gears or do i have to wipe the SD card too? Also considered just doing a nandroid restore since i backed it up before the wipe but it appears I cannot just restore from the SD card. Am I correct or missing something? Thanks.

same problem as me lol and its gears because those apps. dont exist anymore.. it happens to me lik if im going from stock rom to freshs.. all the stock roms he took out will apppear as gears b.c they dont really exist anymore.. thats fom my experience

I did an experiment. I unmounted my SDcard and then rebooted my phone, guess what, no more gears. Put the sd card back in and rebooted, gears back. I think there is some type of hidden file on the sd card that is making this happen but i have fished all over the phone and couldnt figure it out. I think its hidden and it can only be seen when done from a computer.

If yu place an app on screen n. delete it from fone without removing from the screen it comes up as a gear too.. try it cuz for me it does
