It does it out of the box. It pops up in the notification drawer.

sorry, those were supposed to be two separate questions, i'm trying to extract an apk and i was pointed to the cmd prompt adb so i was asking whether or not the phone has to be rooted and whether or not the phone has to be mounted as a usb drive or not to run the adb because leaving it stock, just plugging it in, and just typing didn't work

I never tried it stock. I know if you rooted your phone plug it to the usb you don't need to mount the phone and open cmd type
adb remount
Then the pull command

You got to cd in to the directory that you installed the SDK tool for example:

start/run
cmd
C:\Documents and Settings\chubbz> cd C:\Documents and Settings\chubbz\Desktop\android\android-sdk-windows\tools (hit enter)

C:\Documents and Settings\chubbz\Desktop\android\android-sdk-windows\tools> adb remount (hit enter)
once everything is fine you should see the following
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *

"remount failed: operation not permitted"
sounds like it didn't root correctly, so square one?

Have you tried uninstalling, resetting, re-installing and reset again?

Curvefish Battery seems to install very easy for most and if your having difficulty, then their may be another conflict on your device. (Although I couldnt imagine what it may be)
