youtube suddenly not playing videos - Page 2

The regular stream is always horrible lol, I wish the app would default in HQ.

Im running fresh 1.0 and cant get mine to work either. After reading through the tread I have a couple of questions though. First off how do you switch between regular quality and high? I've looked but cant seem to find a setting for that. And second, how do you get such killer numbers on the speed tests? Mine are pathetic by comparison!

When playing the video, hit the menu button & the option on the far right will let you choose HQ.

As for Speeds, I can't speak for all but my location has great Rev A coverage.

I average between 2.4 & 3.2 MBps down & 300-520KBps up. (Philadelphia)

I get faster speeds at home than I do at work tho.

To switch to high quality mode, when watching a video, click on menu, then more, and click on "Watch in High Quality".

Data speeds are based on location, location, location

Thanks. Couldnt figure it out for anything! So as for the speeds its all about your location and not anything to do with the way the phone is set up? That sucks. My Wyoming location has doomed me to shameful speed test results....

You can always try to provision & update the PRL on your Hero. There is a thread somewhere here about it. You can see if it improves anything.

Thanks again... I do keep prl up to date though. Running 60657. Provision? Is that something more than just an update? And does it make a difference in actual performance? I really don't have any complaints as far as how my hero performs. It's way faster than the diamond when it comes to downloads and web browsing and such. Was just curious as to why my numbers were so sad compared to everyone elses! Sorry, didn't mean to hi-jack the thread...

I can only hope this is happening because there is some behind the scenes work being done on 2.1 that is causing the service to not work momentarily.

if you go to the youtube webpage, find the video you want there, and click the video and tell it to open with youtube, the video will play fine. just figured that one out today after all my youtube videos not working. hope this works for you guys too.
