Control HTC Music App with Headphones?

I just picked up a pair of headphones with the mic/remote button and I was wondering if the HTC audio app/widget was able to be controlled with the button like Meridian can be.

I'm not sure how meridian works, but tapping once on the Mic button starts and stops the music. Double tapping calls the last person you dialed. Oh and you don't need to have the music app or widget open to make it work (it will even work if the screen is locked).

Yeah, I like the way you can control Meridian with the mic but I wanted to know if there was any way to control the app that comes with the Hero so I don't have to use Meridian. I like the way the stock app comes up on the lock screen.

Best way to do is try it out.Some of the headsets with mic functions operate differently anyway
