wireless tethering

When using the wireless tethering on my Hero (Fresh 0.6 rom) I am trying to secure my connection. I have changed the 'passphrase' in the settings to WEP-key 13 character ASCHII, but when I go to tether my laptop, it shows my network as unsecured...? Any help would be greatlt appreciated.

TIA

Re: wireless tethering

Just turn AC on. It is access control and if you don't allow someone to connect, they cant!

Right, but turn it on and try to connect a pc that has never been allowed access, it won't work.

Thanks County, but I was kinda hoping for a password, like when you are trying to connect to someone elses wireless router and it prompts you to enter the password twice...? Is that possible?

Yea, you can do that with the wep key it just won't say that it is secured. The AC control way is my favorite because if someone connects I can boot them very easily.

So you boot them by unchecking their comp right?

How would you set up the WEP anyway?

Exactly. They can't connect until you allow it.

I think it may be WPA, sorry I said WEP. But when it is set up it still says unsecured, I don't know why haha.

Ok so I enabled Access Control and tried to log on using a pc I haven't used before, and it still let me on, then I unchecked that pc in the Access Control panel, but it still allowed that pc to cruise the net. What am I doing wrong??
