This is the HTC Z. It's available in W-CDMA and GSM as right now. Hopefully it will make it to CDMA soon. I really like the video conference feature.

We are getting this phone but not with some of the cool features. Every version I have seen of this phone for the US does not have the video conferencing camera on the phone. It seems that the US carriers don't think we americans would want such a feature. How wrong they are. When I saw the TyTn I wanted it immediately. But alas we americans are will be getting the watered down version as usual.

For videoconferencing, the american networks need to be upgraded to 3G.

as you guys dont have 3G, there is not point in having phones that run on it

Ev-DO is considered 3G and we do have that. Although videoconferencing is not viable for CDMA networks until Rev. A of Ev-DO is deployed on a wide scale (Currently Rev. 0 is only deployed on a wide scale, but more and more sites are getting lit up with Rev. A).

UMTS

Actually, isn't the Cingular UMTS officially a 3G Network?

Certs 04-25-2007 12:45 PM

Cingular 3G (UMTS) is capable of video call, but AT&T does not support it yet. EV-DO is not, but EV-DO rev. A will be capable. The requirement is simultaneous voice and data.
