Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
I got suckered into the hype about the HD2 and bought one. It's a nice phone, as long as you don't make phone calls!:protest: The speaker volume is fine, but it sounds a little tinny. I could live with that, but the background static and noise is horrible. T-mobile service sucks, period! Don't consider the phone unless you willing to deal with sub-par voice quality. I just returned my phone and am in the process of reinstating my Sprint account. That about sums it up!:(

Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
That's odd because I had an HD2 and the voice quality is AMAZING. I have no complaints about the phone at all.
|
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
I tired my SIM card on another phone and they all sound shitty. Also, I tried a pre-paid SIM and again, the voice quality sucked. It seems be a network issue. I guess Sprint's sound quality has spoiled me!:headbang:

Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
i think that the title should be "dont go to t-mobile or you will be sorry"
since its the carrier and not the hd2 |
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
My voice quality is EXCELLENT on the HD2.
|
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
It's been well known that sprints call quality is the best. So You wont get any better. It should be expected.
|
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
thats the same reason i took mines back the vol sucks on this phone
|
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
Isn't one of the perks of CDMA (Sprint & Verizon) call clarity and quality? I think while GSM offers ability of simulatneous voice & data, it suffers in clarity and quality of calls.
|
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
Make sure your screen protecer isn't covering the speaker. Maybe the speaker is shot. My call clearity is decent.
|
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
Sound quality is excellent here too. I spend maybe 10% daily talking on the phone and 90% entertainment. Web browsing, navigation, tethering, movies, youtube, streaming....and so forth.
Side Note: I don't know who would want to buy this phone if they have a higher percentage rate of " talking " on the phone. Get something like a clam shell or a 2 " screen size phone. This phone is not made for the average users. This phone is purely made for the entertainment enthusiast. |
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
sprint = call drop

but seriously most misleading title I have ever seen...you're talking about the service of t mobile not the device itself. It really would dissuade a lot of would be buyers of the tmo hd2. And btw ideally you can port it to ATT as well just be stuck with 2g...so that's an option too |
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
I don't care how many nice functions a phone has, if the call quality is poor, it's useless. Case closed!=D>

Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
I have been experiencing reception issues, however my wifes My Touch 3G does not suffer from reception issues. I have been told by Customer Service, Tech Support and Retail Reps that my issue it that our area is bing tested presently for HSPA so there are reception issues. I don't know if this is true or not, but in the mean time I am still caring around my Verizon Touch Pro2 until we know for sure we wanna stick with T-Mobile service.

Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
do you stay out in the sticks? because my t-mo works great on my sprint tp2, i'm not even going to bring the hd2 into it.
|
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
So ever since i flashed to NRG's ROM my phone is constantly in "H", and every now and then it switches back to "3G"...i wonder if they actually have HSPA in my area?
|
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
I get the same bs from tmo reps about towers being tested because i get spotty data reception here in el paso,tx. lol they've been "testing" it for 7 months yet call quality on the TP2 and hd2 is excellent for me.

Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
tmo blows in my area too or the hd2 would be in my hand, they gave me a phone to try for a week but couldnt stand the no 3g issue and also told me that its on the way. lol
great phone though, not its fault. |
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
that's what i'm thinking darren, it's more of a network issue, the phone is just following along.
|
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
Are you kidding? AT&T is so bad in the NYC area. Can you say "dropped calls galore"? People can speculate the cause of the crappy voice quality, but whether it's the network or the phone, I don't have time to screw around figuring it out. I'm gonna stick with what I know works.:headbang:

Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
i get 3g and calling is great in my town, no probs with tmo here;]

Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
Unless you live in the boondocks, T-Mobile works great. I've been getting stellar call quality and data here. Sorry OP, you're just a troll.
How's this for my mobile speed test result: http://mobilespeedtest.com/results/1121087233.jpg |

t mobile call quality (rather gsm calling) sucks compared to cdma. That's a fact, but you can't blame a phone on the quality of the network |

Another satisfied HD2 user here as well... maybe you're in a bad area or got a bad device.
I switched from Verizon last week so far call quality has been great for me. And it's real easy to add another number into your conference call for a quick business meeting... T-mobile network held my three way call with good quality, and I could browse the web on my phone during the conference :) |

Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
I've used T-Mobile since they started and in many locations in the US (NY, FL, CA, WA) and all had clear calls and good reception. It may be that in your area you're actually roaming on someone else's tower and their service is lacking. T-Mobile doesn't have as good coverage as AT&T for voice, so for large areas of the country, you're actually using AT&T infrastructure when you're talking on T-Mobile.
The hiss issue aparently has nothing to do with GSM or t-mobile. There's a bug in the HD2 firmware that has been reported in the European version as well. We must put pressure on HTC to issue a fix. |
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
I switched last week from Sprint (Touch Pro) to T-Mobile for the HD2 and have enjoyed every moment of it. I made my first conference call with the HD2, something I can't even do with any Sprint device and I don't ever plan to use Sprint again. My area has 3G all over the place. I have better T-Mobile coverage than I had Sprint coverage.
But T-Mobile is not good for you if you're not in a good coverage area. I did my homework before buying and I'm happier with T-Mobile than I was with Sprint. |
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
I think everyone must be tone deaf. I am enjoying my good old Touch Pro2, with no static or drop calls. No matter which phone I used for T-mobile, the sound quality was not even close to Sprint. That GSM white-noise hiss drove me crazy. It sounds like a bad cordless phone.

exactly. i thought i was about to read that the screen was coming off or it was overheating or something! sounds like someone didn't do their research.

Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
Everyone please mod alert the 1st post so we can at least have the title changed if not just delete this useless thread. You can do this by clicking on the the red exclamation point icon on the first post.
Thanks. |

Actually the thread should be changed, as in DELETED, since it's HIS signal not T-Mobile or the HD2. He's just another fool who does not understand phones and technology so he blames it on the device. All carriers have their bad or spotty coverage areas. The solution is to find a carrier whose signal works where he lives and works. |
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!

You have a problem with getting a T-Mobile signal in your area. That's got nothing to do with the Hd2. Find a carrier whose signal works well in your area, end of problem. And don't post useless comments like this. |
Re: Don't buy the HD2 or you will be sorry!
I don't think you people get it. I had full bars on 3G and the voice quality was iffy. I did not expect to get static and background noice on HTC's top-of-the-line phone. You should check out the postings at XDA developers. A lot of people where complaining about the voice quality on this phone and I now know why.
