Thumbs up Wow, the screen is huge!

Just got myself a T-Mobile HD2. Jumped from Sprint and my old Touch Pro. Going from the Touch Pro to the HD2 is like going from a kiddie bike to a Harley Davidson! Or like going from a Yugo to a Cadillac. Wow, I didn't really realize how big the screen is from just reading specs and trying to estimate, but I'm loving it.

Before getting it, I thought I'd miss the old Touch Pro navigation button. But the HD2 screen is really so big, that I doubt I'll miss the old Touch Pro navigation button at all.

Same here.. I hate capacitive screens. The old resistives were so accurate this one feels like it's such a major step backward. I could type fast and furious without errors on my little Diamond and now i'm struggling like crazy with this massive screen. Ironic, isnt' it?

Heh I wouldn't go as far as chaing my OS and hardware because of the keyboard. There are plenty of keyboard options out there - Swype etc.

The issue here is just that capacitive screens work differently and once you understand how they work you'll get better. Just learn the use the cushy part of your thumb and not your your nails etc. Capacitive screens get activated when they come into contact with your finger. Read up about it a little bit online and you'll find out exactly how they work and how best to use them.

As with every other time the user interface has changed. At first the transition might seem annoying and later you're so used to it you don't want to try the next change when it comes along.

I prefer typing on the larger screen. Having entries register the moment my finger glances the screen is something I'm starting to adjust to. But I had to go back to using SPB Keyboard, because Touch Input kept trying to auto-correct me even after I turned off all the auto-correct settings. Is there a way to totally stop Touch Input from trying to "auto-correct"?

RTM saves the day! I should have made sure I was not in XT9 mode when the auto-correction would not stop . But it seems the button to switch between XT9 and ABC sometimes gets stuck.

Re: Wow, the screen is huge!

I have big hands and could't use the screen keyboard on the ppc-6700, touch pro or touch pro 2, I can type on this one with ease! I don't like typing in landscape mode so much though. But this big beautiful screan is memorizing. My girl a die hard iPhone users is loving her HD2 as well, didn't think she was going to like it much to be honest.
