Honestly you're best off downloading a rom with it cooked because it is pretty deep and if somebody has customized the rest of the rom well it's great. I'm using the "HD2O" rom from XDA, works like a charm.

CHT 1.8.5 just dropped. Get on the ball people....

The two biggest things in my opinion...

High quality wall papers (FINALLY)

This has been a sore spot for all of us I think. High res wallpapers were always possible through a series of custom mods, but now all you have to do is click "set wallpaper" and it's automatically in high res. NO NEED FOR HDWALL EVER AGAIN!. If you're still using "max manila" with it's clunkiness and low resolution graphics you need to come into this century, or sell your HD2 because you're basically downgrading it if you put max manila on it.


Windows mobile 6.5.x now fully skin-able (FINALLY)

Again skinning WM6.5.x was, until now, only possible through using a series of mods in the right order, and having to photoshop multiple graphics and edit multiple manila files JUST right, and then maybe after hours of photoshoping and file editing it would work if you did EVERYTHING right. Then you STILL had to fix the lockscreen issues. Now all you have to do is pick a graphic and CHT skins 6.5.x for you in one step. (I don't know if he was influenced by VolDeus' bgtweak program, which I am on the beta team for. But prior to CHT 1.8.5, XDA user VolDeus' tweak program was the ONLY program that could skin 6.5.x in high res, and did it correctly. Seems like Cookie either used the source code from volDeus or did something very similar but I've been waiting for VolDeus' work to be recognized and implemented into something big for a while and it's great to see.)


AND.....

ABSOLUTELY NO LOCK SCREEN ISSUES AT ALL

For anybody who's used CHT before, the lock screen was a blessing and a curse. All the functionality was there, but the background graphics were more often than not messed up. This has been completely eliminated, no bugs at all ever.

Gonna stick with THIS layout for a while. I have all the other home screens customized how I want too...this is my main one.




AND...

I just finished building my new PC...core i7...12gigs of ram, 3tb of storage (I'm a pro photographer / designer / videographer, I need to edit 1080p video constantly, so I need a PC like this)

And I must say Remote desktop mobile is SCREAMING fast with my new PC. Whenever I have full hsdpa service which is most of the time, I can play my itunes library seamlessly, hook it up to my car and there's nothing better.






Windows 7 ultimate basically fully functioning on my HD2...suck it EVO
(when I say FULLY i really do mean fully. The only thing that's choppy at all is when I watch movies via remote desktop. All programs open very quickly and unless the functionality has to do with video playback everything works stellar. IE - Photoshop can run perfectly, but Adobe Premiere is pretty choppy because it's a video editing program. The display drivers on the HD2 aren't meant for stuff that complex. Image editing, music, etc. is perfect)
