It's the newer swype that's on the HD2, but I'm sure you can install an older version if you like (or it may possibly need to be cooked in to be completely reliable, I've had issues in the past with replacing whatever the stock SIP is).

i started using the 3.9 and dont even want to go back to 2.0 to see the difference but i love this technology...if you type what you mean once or twice it will know what you mean next time.

the new swype really sucks bad and I prefer the one from the omnia 10 ways till sunday

I am with you. I loved SWYPE on the Omnia. The key configuration is really odd (along with your other sentiments). I really need directional keys for the HD2 to get around now when I make a mistake.

problems with swype. I can select under the input settings, but the only keyboard i can use is the default one. What am I doing wrong???

ok, installed finger keyboard 2.1 and after multiple attempts to get it to open, now it and swype are there. first quirk I've had.

swype 3.9 has given me a lot of headaches and I found myself watching the tutorial time and time again saying I did that and its not working - wth!?
Luckily I always go back to swype 2.0 and everything is almost perfect in that the predictive text entry is completely awesome

I have to agree with Noir on this one.

As much as they seem to have improved the look and the overall usability and speed, I feel that prediction has taken a major beating. The older Swype was, like Noir said, scary accurate! I find myself always retracing and having to redo my input a lot. The word menu comes up way to often now compared to before.

I'm really fast with Swype; so fast that if they had a contest, I could put 90% of the contestants away with ease, but with this new one I find the constant editing and rechecking to be a huge pain and it takes away all the fun out of using Swype.

For those of you that don't do light speeds with Swype, I would still recommend using the latest version of Swpe.

EDIT: BTW, Any skins for Swype v3.x

swype came with the hd2, why did he have to install it?
You can go to settings/ all settings/ personal/ input and set it as default, but it doesn't always stick. All you have to do is press the keyboard symbol on the bottom center of the phone to switch between keyboards.

Thank you. The guy is a "noob" with his phone. I'm on Evo android so couldn't really help. Will try the symbol keyboard to see if works. Thanks in advance.
