Any way to remove apllications taht came with a phone?

Any way to remove apllications that came with a phone when it was new, it has so much junk.

I'm a newbie but I think you have to root your phone to do that. There's no permanent root for the Shift yet.

haus is right OP, for the most part. Root will get you the ability to uninstall some apps, others not so easily (or will cause issues). The best thing is to wait for full root and NAND access; then you can flash a custom ROM or even a stripped down (aka no bloatware) stock ROM.

Be patient, HTC devices usually get full root within a week or so of their release, at the latest.

correct and temp. root with z4 root wont help.

I tried temp root with z4 last night and all it did after my reboot is slow the phone down. I went from Quadrant scores of 1600 to 1150. Ouch.

well z4 temp is removed on reboot so that is your score on stock.
