I would also wait until they come out with a phone with the new HTC Sense UI. I would want TomTom maps because some day I have to drive to 20 to 30 different location and I need a map program that does not depend on the network and has a map itinerary.

Now I am starting to understand why HTC wants to start cracking down on the use of their ROMs basically if you could get a Samsung Epic with the HTC UI why would you buy an HTC phone. The Epic has the superior screen but I believe HTC is better when it come to their GPS technology.

But something is telling me I should suffer and wait until the summer time before I upgrade my cell phone. I personally think that this phone is a step forward because it has an 800 Mhz dual processor which does the work of a 1 Ghz processor with less strain on the phone's power resources.

Apple does a way better job at promoting their new cell phone than HTC. They tell you the specs months ahead of time and not wait until the day of the phone's release.
Htc knows the gig id up! years of bad crippled hardwares feedback is biting them in the butt. A company can fools some of thr people some of the time, but can't fool all the people all the time. the shift reminds me of the 6700 to the mogul. whereas the 6800 was going to sport a dual core cpu for more power and efficient battery improvement. Turned out to be a slower cpu that couldnt run tomtom over 3fps.

Me too... But I'm ready for a larger screen... Came from the Q to the TP to the TP2... I'm more intrigued by the possibility of getting my hands on a 4.3" beast.
But I do think there's a large demographic that would LOVE this phone.

Have you ever held a 4.3 lcd like a evo? Its too big. Feels clumsy and also its too blocky. I found myself needing to use both hands to scroll thru the giant window. No way to use it with a single hand.

I use an lcd thats 4.3 every day and I wouldn't change it for anything. Ive had all types of screen sizes and I love my 4.3 screen. Its awesome for games, programs, tv shows and especially internet. I find myself using my phone more than my laptop. I don't find this screen size clumsy at all. My suggestion is to try it and if you don't like it then just change it. Its as easy as that

Re: HTC Evo Shift 4G

hey I have access to my brothers Epic and my sis Transform, both Samsung keyboard models...

I can tell you first hand that my TP2 is superior for typing quikly and that looking at this EvoShift pics,
It will be easier to type than the TP2 because of the placement of the "Enter"&"Del" keys are not so far to the right.

remember these HTC keyboards have the buttons positioned more like a real keyboard,
while the Samsung buttons layout is not shifted over,
but instead positioned in both straight vertical and horizontal rows..

Plus take into account the button feel:
Epic = too hard.
Transform = too mushy & resessed.
TP2 = just right, but slighlty to wide for 2 thumbs
EvoShift = ?? Hopefully better looking at pics..

I just whish they went bigger with the screen & had front cam.. Oh well..

Once you get used to the KB on the Epic its fine..its just a matter of getting used to it (mostly if your coming from a TP2)..overall though I don't understand why HTC keeps making 4 row KB..they got it right on the TP2..why not just stick to that design? I never understood...
