Has anyone heard if the Evo 4G is getting an Ice Cream Sandwich?

I saw the premier of the Samsung Nexus with the new Ice Cream Sandwich Android OS. Very impressive. I wonder if the Evo will get it? I refuse to buy another Sprint "4G" device until I really have LTE in my area.

HTC has responded to this: HTC: We're reviewing Ice Cream Sandwich and determining our plans -- Engadget

I guess time will tell but it will ultimately be up to HTC if they decide to upgrade the Evo. My guess is no since they want folks to upgrade their devices. Evo3d, Sensation, Amaze though will probably get it though imo.

I agree bro, they have updated the Evo a couple of times now and I seriously doubt they will again as they want people to update their device, plus it depends on what the specs would be required to run Ice Cream.

Re: Has anyone heard if the Evo 4G is getting an Ice Cream Sandwich?

According to Google there is no additional specs acquirement for ICS. But considering the leaked documents that Sprint plans to EOL the Evo soon. Though there will most likely be custom roms by devs to get ICS on the Evo.

I mean the earliest any device is gonna get ICS officially most likely will be early 2012. So considering you will have your new 4G device around the time ICS will be on phones.

yea I think all the ICS preinstalled phones will be LTE complaint when and if sprint ever rolls it out. judging by the shape of their 3G network right now it doesn't seem like they'll have it till 2015.

Re: Has anyone heard if the Evo 4G is getting an Ice Cream Sandwich?

EVO STARTED OFF WITH....

2.1 -> 2.2 -> 2.4 AND SKIPPED 3.X SO I WOULD SAY NO TO 4.0 AS THE DEVICE IS NOW END OF LIFE AND NO LONGER A CURRENT PRODUCT AND IS YESTERDAYS NEWS. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED LATELY THAT DEVELOPMENT HAS COME TO A CRAWL COMPAIRED TO WHAT IT ONCE WAS FOR THE EVO. I REMEMBER FLASHING MY PHONE SEVERAL TIMES A DAY SINCE NEW ROMS WOULD APPEAR BY JUST REFRESHING THE PAGE... I ONLY REDO MY PHONE NOW LIKE 2 OR 3 TIMES PER DAY. WHAT A SAD STATE.

well thats how it is everywhere
for pretty much any phone

I mean the phone is by todays standard... old
so of course development is going to slow down or even die.
people have moved on
it sucks... but..
it happens
