2.3.3 Was this really the update we wanted?

So does anybody really like this update? I had it day one since the manual update, and like in many of the other threads have noticed that this update seems to be plagued with many problems. I've had bad signal, 4G being twitchy logging in at times, radio interference, network busy trying to make calls, issues sending out txt, and everybodies favorite, apps not working. Plus I think there were some small options that didn't need to be changed or removed. Hell the only wierd problem I had before the update was my location would tell me I was in random spots once in a while from Sheboygan, Maine, and my favorite Shanghai, all while still being in the Chicago area. I don't know what the hell happened to this update when they had so much time to work on it but something needs to be fixed in a major way.

I agree. Cyanogen 7 blows away any sense based rom. To quote Engadget, sense is a "Pig with lipstick"

Re: 2.3.3 Was this really the update we wanted?

But that "pig with lipstick" for the most part....works as intended. My experiences with custom roms, including Cyanogen 7 roms, come riddled with bugs and/or certain functions not working. Custom roms are always in "beta" mode and always updated to get the best user experience but will never...ever...be a 100% finished working product.

I choose functionality over bling and if all the functions of the phone don't work, then it's not a phone for me...and that includes custom roms.

Re: 2.3.3 Was this really the update we wanted?

I updated to the 2.3.3, saw no real improvements other than some flashy shit I don't care about and went back to 2.2, Have to admit I'm kind of disappointed with this update. Especially when the 2.3 running on my gfs Nexus runs so well

Re: 2.3.3 Was this really the update we wanted?

I'm staying away from Sense ROM's. The battery life is horrible, its a RAM / resource hog, and the ROM size is over double of an AOSP ROM. Besides I never used any of the Sense widgets.

Re: 2.3.3 Was this really the update we wanted?

2.3.3 totally sucks! Don't do it!

EVO 4G, Sprint notification... I updated, and the instant problems began!

Immediately the following happened and got worse:

Total phone calling and receiving failure.
Location weather randoms to Vladivostok Russia.
Touch freezes, phone has to have battery-out reboot.
Haptic Feedback fail.
Voice Mail notifications cannot be cleared by using anything including Call.
Voice Mail notifications double and triple.
Voice Mail has two and three service systems.
Voice Mail shows same number of new messages, but system says none.
Email dumped 400+ emails from server AND deleted from the server.
Do not delete from server is still checked.
All text messages undeliverable, and undeliverable cannot be deleted.
All text messages cannot be deleted, by all or by individual in a contact.
All notification sounds for emails and texts ceased.
All notification settings boxes still checked.
All notifications for new texts non-existent.
Text notifications appear only when message app touched.

Call to Sprint took hours, got only phone back working.
Emailing possible, began retrieving emails, from my server.
Retrieval from all my Gmail accounts impossible.

On and on, nothing but problems.

Finally into Sprint Store. Now phone shows version 2.3.3 but says needs version 2.3.3 and loaded it again at the store. Then phone crashed.

Result, Sprint wiped phone. Reload is 2.3.3, the only possible reload.

Phone totally works now, but is has only been about 8 hours.

Entire staff suggests many problems, and do not update to 2.3.3

Now, I hope I can find a way to root version 2.3.3. I did not have the phone rooted before, but now I want to do that since I cancelled my hot spot.

Re: 2.3.3 Was this really the update we wanted?

How did you go back to 2.2? I can root 2.2 I think, by all that I have read, then if wanted, update to 2.3.3 not loosing the root, so I have read. I cannot find a rooting for 2.3.3, but likely is just too new.

Thank you.
