I don't know if they are going to force you to update but I bet they will definitely highly suggest that you update and say that whatever issue you are having could be resolved by updating. I did the OTA update as I was taking my phone into a repair center as I knew they were going to suggest I update to try and resolve my issues, guess it depends on how your repair center is too, mines pretty uptight.

Believe it or not Sprint can tell what rom you are running, I called into a tech support one day and he was saying that the issue could be the rom "Evolved" that I was running and saying that I might not have the right settings and the radio/prl/pri and all that could be outdated, so take this for what it's worth, can't hurt to go in with a 2.2 rom and see what they say, probably better to do it that way and then if they don't say your issue is caused by that you can still use unrevoked to root your phone again cause once you take the 2.3 there's no going back right now.
