There is no need to take phone in. I had the same problem with the reprovisioning. In the end I did a hard reset, then it ran hands free activation and updated fine. If after hard reset and neither the profile update or provisioning work then you can take it in to the store. Like someone said, unroot if you can, if not, most repair centers dont check anyway. I've taken my rooted phone in 3 times with no problems. But before all this, make sure you try hard reset first.

Re: How to Re-Provision my Evo? - NEED HELP
the is NO reason to NOT unroot. It may just fix the phone too. There is two files to flash to UNROOT. There is a link on XDA to unroot. You simply flash the UnRevokedSON and a stock image.

Re: How to Re-Provision my Evo? - NEED HELP
Just FYI, this requires MSL code/password. This is probably the easiest method because it puts the phone in a state to automatically initiate Hands-Free Activation.
Downside, of course, is that it is a full reset that wipes everything. On a related note, if an RTN (##786#) reset is done, is there a way to have the phone end up turned off (so the Hands-Free Activation is 'paused' until someone turns it on)? TIA. |

Re: How to Re-Provision my Evo? - NEED HELP
It seems as if nobody actually answered the initial question. The way to manual provision a Sprint phone is to get the MSL (a six digit code), mine for example is 123456. I go to the dialer, press ##123456#, then choose EDIT mode. (touch each of the two settings you see, and enter the correct information.) Once you are done, click MENU, then COMMIT MODIFACTIONS.
To get your MSL on your ROOTED phone, go to the market and download MSN READER. If you are running a custom rom, you might not have EPST installed on your phone, and this won't work. I assume if you used ##786#, then you must have EPST installed. If my memory serves me correct, SPRINT LOVERS ROMS, usually leave most of the stock apps installed. Another note, is to make sure you correctly MDN (Mobile Directory Number), in my case this *IS* my phone number. Be very careful, as this is *NOT* always the case. I am not sure of the reasoning for this, but just be sure that you know what your MDN is.
