text to canada without charges?

Hey I was wondering if anyone knew how to text to canada without us having to get charged? is there like a way to text to a program or something like that? lol or like message to a bbm or something of that nature? well let mek now if anyone has any knowledge about this stuff... I been trying to text my friends in canada and they haven't been receiving any of my texts and I can't receive theirs either... well any help would be good help! Thanks!

What kind of phone do they have? If it's a smart phone maybe you guys can use a messaging program like yahoo. Thats what me and one of my friends use since he has unlimited data but not free texting.

Wouldn't google voice give you free texts to/from canada? (I haven't tried it, but they do advertise it as free calls and texts to canada)

Sprint has free texts to canada, I don't understand the problem?

I'm not able to text to canada, they said it would be .20 charge for texts incoming and outgoing? what plan do you have? lol i try to send it but i cant and when people in canada try to text me, i dont get anything back from them?

I use google voice for calls and sprint for texts to Canada all the time, my fiance is currently living there for school. Only thing is, no one there seems to offer her free texting back.

If you know the carrier..you can send an email to them and it will arrive as a text..
