Speaker phone automatically activates when answering or making a phone call

hey guys im having a problem. as the the title says the speaker phone keeps automatically activating on me. at first i thought it was a CM problem but i just flashed to a stock rom and its still doing it. i noticed that when ever i start the phone whether it be on stock or cm that the car dock seems to automatically start. i dont know if this is the culprate or not. do you have ideas on what this might be or how i could go about fixing it? im about to just flash the latest ruu and take it back and see if it qualifies for a free exchange but i thought id check here first.

Same thing happened to me, seems the latest version of qik is the problem. Always happened after using Qik and made or recived a call after.

The same happened to me! Its your USB port gone bad...Your phone thinks the car dock is plugged in. I had mine replaced by sprint free of charge.

+1 on the USB port or your usb cable if its plugged in. Phone thinks your connected to the car dock thus putting you in hands free mode.

damnit! thats what i was afraid of. whats the best way to unroot it so i can take it back?

Flash a stock shipped rom!

i tried flashing by way of an ruu and everytime it says verifying device it never reads my phone. so unless you can be more specific thats a no go.

If it was me I would try to flash another custom ROM and see if it still does it, if not great, if it does I would then flash back/nandroid back to the stock ROM and see if that fixes it, if it does great, if not then I would take it to a Sprint Repair store to get checked out.

Also are you on 2.2 or did you take the 2.3 OTA update? Any information you could provide would help those that are trying to help you figure it out.

On the phone with sprint as i type. they're suggesting a hard reset. I was rooted, then unrooted for a while, then took the 2.3 update. mine is answering on speakerphone, dialing in speakerphone, swype doesn't work, smart dial keeps opening in the bottom right corner instead of the bottom curtain. arrgh!! i'm about to bring it in to sprint.
