Faster 3G

PLEASE READ L-E-T-T-E-R FOR L-E-T-T-E-R, W-O-R-D FOR W-O-R-D.

As we all know, HTC and Sprint borked downloads for apps like Rhapsody, Mog, Thumbplay.

I recently ran across the subject and i found a fix. It is very simple.

1. Get your MSL, There are many ways, call Sprint, Download the app MSL Reader from the market, CDMA workshop
2. After you have your MSL go to your phone and type ##3282#
3. Click Edit Mode
4. Click Advanced
5. Scroll down to HTTP PD Proxy Port & HTTP PD Proxy Address
6. Change HTTP PD Proxy Port to 0 (zero)
7. Change HTTP PD Proxy Address to 0.0.0.0
8. Go enjoy Downloads and a .20-.60 mbps increase in 3G speeds!

Whats the reason this works and how do you know if it works? (Maybe you could post some before and after SpeedTest results in the original post) Also, you need to post who the original "finder" is.

Re: Faster 3G

It probably opens you up though a wider range of eligable sockets via BIND.

Proof?

Re: Faster 3G

I remember doing something similar to this when I had my Samsung Instinct. The improvement wasn't noticeable on the device itself, but when I tethered, it was.

Re: Faster 3G

This lower my download speed but increased my upload speed. I reverted back to the stock settings and my download speed was back to normal and upload was slower, well how it was before this "fix."

Re: Faster 3G

Download times on average are the same for 3G. Upload speeds are consistantly better for me. If I go back to stock upload speeds are slower. Going to roll with this for a while and see how things go.

Isn't this the exact thing I posted for streaming fix two weeks ago?

Re: Faster 3G

I did this.

I only did HTTP PD settings.

But I tested after making change but before rebooting and it got worse.

Then after rebooting with change it is better.

Using Speedtest.Net Market App.

not necessary. it's interesting that the same settings have multiple uses tho.

Is anyone going to post up SpeedTests?

OR78 01-22-2011 11:50 PM

Wirelessly posted (HTC Evo : Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-us; SPH-P100 Build/FROYO) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

This worked on my evo, now how to get this on my tablet...hmmm...if any one knows, hook me up...thanks!

Re: Faster 3G

I did this and it screwed up my reception... couldnt even get a bar. Even after I changed the settings back still no reception. I ended up having to hard reset.

Re: Faster 3G

pigeon mail is MUCH faster than my Sprint 3G data speeds where I live! This seemed to help my youtube streaming on my EVO but soon after it was back to constant buffering again. BTW my pigean returned home a few seconds ago and i'm still waiting for this page to load on my phone! Damn you Sprint... stop throttling us to death!!!!

Check title, it says 3G, not 4G... Just FYI...

Who said I was on 4G? I obviously read the title and this reflects my 3g speeds. Just FYI

Thanks! :)

aronlib 01-23-2011 04:05 PM

This could also drastically reduce your speeds, because it removes sprint proxy's which could be useful and are there for a reason. I would suggest retaining the addresses while testing this "fix". (for lack of better word).

The picture on his signature is 4G speed. Just FYI.

EDIT: Let me clarify... His signature looked like he posted the speed like the OP and others did. So I was letting him know (if he didn't know, which he replied he knew) that it was for 3G.

Some are having issues whit this fix, maybe the location has something to do with it. Some of us probably don't want to post our locations, but maybe that could help out, knowing where it works and where it doesnt that way others from same locations can either "fix" or ignore depending on wether it did fix it or not..

I believe the operative term was "Probably"!

But to help you along, if there is not a socket bound to the phone then the phone is going to have to use bindery services(or some for of DHCP) to acquire one. Now I must admit my development for telcoms is limited to about one year at American tower but it is my years as Unix sysadmin from whence I speak.

Do you always demand proof from someone offers a hypothesis?

why would someone be scared to post their location, dont be so paranoid
its not like its gps coordinates

I want gps coords, ssn#, full name and DOB for all who are willing to post it...

Ok so back to reality, this had virtually no noticable effect on my speeds up or down. However when tethering to my laptop it does *feel* a little faster... meh.

I like that...lol..help me along..

A hypothesis is defined as a proposal intended to explain certain facts or observations.
A fact is defined as a statement or assertion of verified information about something that is the case or has happened

The topic is claiming a fact and in order for there to be a fact there needs to be proof. See how your getting the definitions mixed up? And yes I will ALWAYS "demand proof" to protect our users from doing something to their phones that they ether shouldn't or could potentially be damaging to their device. That's my job!

On that note, does anyone have actual proof (they are willing to produce) this does anything.

Huh? If you meant no damage you might be correct but there are several reports that this is causing issues and some get no signal at all after this..."fix" and ether way without proof that it does anything at all who's to know.

I just decided to try it myself I will post speeds tomorrow.

Re: Faster 3G

I wonder if this is worth it if you experience no 3G issues just for the sake of getting it even faster. Could it only be beneficial to people who have no service in there area, and the opposite of the ones who do?
