Voice Command working for anyone? It was for me but not anymore!

So I had voice command working for me. I went through a lot of trouble to get it to work. But now all of sudden it will not call anyone in my phone book. I used it the other day and it worked fine. Can someone verify for me that it is working for them?

The weird part is that if I change the language settings to English (UK) it will work but you lose some functionality like send text to and send email to. I'm thinking it has something to do with google's servers but I want someone else to verify for me before I go crazy. Thanks.

Uninstall your BT device from your phone (unsync), restart phone, then re-install BT device....that's if your using a headset and see if that works.

Re: Voice Command working for anyone? It was for me but not anymore!

I'm not talking about voice dialing over bluetooth. I'm talking about long pressing the search button on your phone and saying "Call home" or "Call John Smith". This used to work for me but now it's not.

I verified with one other Evo owner that this stopped working for hime also. I just wanted to know if was affecting other people as well so I don't go crazy trying to troubleshoot it if it's a problem with googles servers or something. thanks.

Try clearing cache on phone in apps to give you option to pick Voice Search and Voice Command.

Yeah I've tried that and that doesn't work either. The weird part is that if I change the langauge in voice settings from English(US) to English(UK) I can you voice dial but I lose functionality like "send text to" and "send email to". This is really weird. I found one other person that this is affecting as well. Just trying to find out the cause. I use this program a lot and I need it to work.

Re: Voice Command working for anyone? It was for me but not anymore!

I used mine this morning for google maps. It was a bit cranky but after a couple of requests, it got it write.

I use Voice for texting, nearly exclusively.

Oh ok! Wasn't sure. Yeah the search button long press has always been wonky for me since day one, even after the update. Every now and then it gets it right after 4 or 5 tries but most of the time it spews out crap that is nothing close to what I said. I say "call home" and it tries to dial "mike's pizza pub" in tuscon, arizona when I live in central Florida.

I have to say it's google's messy software implementaion. Maybe they will get this fixed with gingerbread but something tells me it won't, but we will just have to wait and see.

Off topic:

Don't ever set your EVO (while charging) on a Bamboo (large multitouch/pen pad). I put my EVO on charge and set it on top of the bamboo and after 5 minutes, my evo starting going haywire....screen turning on/off repeatedly and my mouse cursor on my PC started jumping all over the place.....scared the crap out me. Just a heads up.

My voice command failed once yesterday. I tried it again and it worked. There is something that's affecting it. I just use vc with my jawbone icon and it works the best that way since it has noise cancellation and evo doesn't. Don't know why they didn't include noise cancellation on evo like on the nexxus. I still wish they had a cdma/gsm nexxus. I've always liked the nexxus. Too bad samsung is making the next nexxus.
