Just got a used EVO, how can I easily tell if it's been rooted.

I just picked up a good used EVO from a guy and he claims that he rooted it a while back but did not install a custom ROM. The problem is that I can not tell if it is rooted. I know how to hold the volume down and press the power button, but I am not sure what to look for. Any tips?
