The problem with anything but the stock player is that you can't use the hdmi out, which makes the feature half useless cause who wants to go through all the time of reencoding a video just for the stock player to choke on it, nevermind degrade the quality.... ooo look at how big that pixel is. I love this phone, but wtf HTC

Technically the EVO is NOT suppose to PLAY HD vid, only CAPTURE!!! - so you can only expect so much id assume...

I had the same issue. HD stutters pretty bad.even recording in 720 pp with its camera kinda stutters.but I did find the problem and solution. The problem is the snap dragon cpu.it doesn't have a dedicated gpu so it lags and can't keep up with hd videos. My solution was to return out within the 30 day limit and buy the Epic or any galaxy s. If you can't return it, sucks to be you and eff you htc.
