Tunring off 3G (MOBILE NETWORK)

Wondering how this works if I turn it off? if I want to use web, do I have to manually turn it back on? Can some1 please explain this to me?

Since Froyo, my gf & my evos can only get about 8hrs with light moderate use. Trying everything, but nothing seems to work. At home, connected to wifi, i can get 20+ hrs, so Im guessing its the signals, even though I have FULL bars @ work & im in the middle of NYC. I would assume the signal is steady. (although @ my desk, if I check the web on my phone it is slow)
any help is appreciated!
thx

If it has a box to check, it has to be checked to use that option. If it changed automatically then what would be the point of showing the option?

Not sure what that one would all do but here is one I read before..

Disable "always on" mobile data. This is one of the biggest battery savers. Go to Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Mobile networks. Tap "Enable always-on mobile data" to uncheck the box. I haven't found a negative consequence of disabling this feature, as Gmail and other apps/functions still work perfectly.

Or you could also look into another battery and charger. That's what I did. I could never get 9 hours out of my phone when texting and streaming music. You can get two batteries and wall charger for under $25 on amazon. If you have ebay it's even cheaper.

Re: Tunring off 3G (MOBILE NETWORK)

I disable always on mobile data, and have the mobile network widget on my home screen. When the widget is on, the phone can connect and disconnect when it needs to ( with disable always on unchecked ). When the widget is off the phone will not connect at all. This is handy if I know I am going to be away from a charger for a while (overnight), and still want to send/receive calls and texts.

Re: Tunring off 3G (MOBILE NETWORK)

i did get an extra battery, but I dont want to have to switch in & out all the time. I had plenty of life before the update, kinda just pisses me off that the update lowered the battery life so much.

So, i unchecked the "enable always on mobile data" on both phones & what a difference. Im on 9 hrs & only 2 bars down, plus i can still text, call, play online games & surf the web. so i have no clue what that button does besides kill batteries.
