Weird issue happened to my Evo

Luckily I backed up my phone before I did this "update" that was pushed to my phone. It said it was a needed software update that automatically showed up on my phone, I let it run then my screen got stuck with an yellow exclamation point with the android robot. I assumed this was bad and that it totally bricked, so I restored back to my latest backup.

Does anybody know or recommend anything about this update? I can't tell you exactly what it is, because I don't remember...but it was something like 3.23.1.xxxx

Thanks!

Re: Weird issue happened to my Evo

I found it! It just popped up after I restored:

It's 3.29.651.5, and according to google it has something to do with the Framerate barrier? And some other things...

Just to clarify, I'm running the latest version of Unrevoked... my software version (according to my evo) is 3.26.651.6. I definitely would like to have all updates, but I'm guessing I can't install official updates (I'm guessing from HTC) if my phone is rooted?

Re: Weird issue happened to my Evo

ok ths mite help u.. i dnt take credit for this i got it frm boo boo

First off you have to have -off when you boot into the console

If you are not, don't post here until you are. You're wasting my time and others.

second if you have deleted any app from the stock rom you are more than likely going to have to flash the stock ruu

located here MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service Thanks to Kend01

after you have flashed the ruu or running stock rooted rom (will wipe everything if you have to install the ruu)

go to settings-system updates-HTC Software Update and do a check

you will be prompted with a upgrade to 3.29.651.5 OTA (if you install the official ota you get current pri and baseband)

download and install - phone will reboot and install OTA

you may get a green circle with a arrow in the center it took me about 5-10 minutes before that went away and it booted into 2.2 (i was impatient and popped the battery out a bunch of times thinking i froze it up. let it load)

download the pc36img of clockwork recover (its like 3 megs)

http://downloads.unrevoked.com/forev...od/PC36IMG.ZIP

also download the current version of superuser

http://bit.ly/su2361ef thanks to tws101 from XDA

put these 2 files on your sd card (delete all previous zips)

turn off Evo
boot into bootloader (hold volume down than press power) it will launch the clock work recover and when prompted install it

dont reboot

go into recovery

than install superuser from the sd card

reboot

you just need to flash a ROM that already has 3.29 on it.

here's just one of the many roms you can use: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-...ed-3-21-a.html

Re: Weird issue happened to my Evo

Okay it appeared for me again, and the update number is 3.29.651.5.

Just for clarification, I'm running a rooted evo using the latest unrevoked. Thoughts? Recommendations?

Thanks!

Ahh thanks! And sorry for the double post, I got an error message when I tried posting my response.

So the only way to solve this is to flash a new rom? Wow... I really didn't want to do that, but I guess I have no choice *shrug*

no not the only way to solve it. just what i would do after backing up my apps/settings via titanium backup. the flashing the rom and restoring the titanium backup (to restore settings/apps)

the other suggestion in this thread isn't written very well but thats to be expected if it's from boo boo
