Yes, you can go straight from 1.40 to 1.77, can even go from 1.34 to 1.77....either way, it doesnt matter.

From what I have seen doing a Nandroid Recovery will not bring you back to the 1.34 or 1.40 PRI (which ever you were on). The Nandroid backup us just precautionary in case something goes wrong then you can Recover the way your phone was before.

If your not near a 4G area then you probably wont get much from this, but you wont know for sure until you try.....

It does...I was at 1.4 and now at 1.77 after the update. I was not rooted though...don't know what the rooted update wil do.

Seen it on an others evo not rooted. But with as many failed tries on 2 diff methods to get 1.4 to update, i have same failed attempts to get 1.77 to flash

Running netarchy 'ota 2.2 final odexed rooted' rom he launched after 2.2 came out.
HTC OTA Froyo 2.2, *FINAL*, build 3.26.651.6 (Rooted) Odexed - xda-developers if it matters. Full root step 1 & 2 with nand unlock. Not switching to unrevoked root just to get the update.

Everything should work fine. Are you sure you are NAND unlocked. Check which version of Hboot you have and if you have s(off).

I'm using the newest PRI and it seems to be working fine for me. 3G speeds are a little better but not a day and night difference. Havent tested 4G yet and that is where I am expecting to see the real improvement. Will post back when I have results for 4G.

Ok this new pri seems to be cap on 3g to .50 and on 4g makes it faster then 12 mps so i think thats how sprint gonna cap are 3g usage i went back to 1.34 pri and i hit 3g 1.2 mps again and 4g sort of the same speeds

Hi Tech. I just ran a 3g test and got 1.7mb using pri 1.77. I dont think they are capping it. Network conditions are probably to blame. sometimes I get really poor speeds as well, usually average around 750kb though.

well sounds it only affect people that there on 4g network area
