EVO as ipod replacement?

I love my EVO. I have an ipod classic which I also love. I want to get a replacement (ipod touch) but either way I would have 2 devices. anyone use this thing everyday as their main music player?

Re: EVO as ipod replacement?

A lot of people can't afford/don't want to buy an extra device just for music. The EVO can play stored music and stream music, so I'm sure many people are fine just using that... plus they don't have to lug around another device. That being said, it's hard to beat the iPod in terms of media. I've always had two separate devices, but that's because I can't resist new sht. I just traded up my zune hd for a new iPod Touch.

Re: EVO as ipod replacement?

the perfect solution would be for Google to step their shit up in terms of media. Video and music playback in my opinion are very poor. I mean c'monn there isnt even an equalizer. i think the EVO would be perfect if it also did things that phones dont do like playing media

Re: EVO as ipod replacement?

Same here, I can't resist new shit either.

I have a 80GB iPod, 80GB Zune and a 32GB Zune HD. I cant see why people want to use their phones as their primary media player. I like having the ability to use my phone as a media player if I don't have any of mine around. But I prefer having two different devices. Using your phone will only kill your battery quicker and have your phone tied up when you want to use ti for phone calls.

actually, I tested my evo for music playback with the screen off and it didn't use much battery at all... i let it play for hours and it didn't even put a dent, so i just gave up on the test. Of course, video playback is something completely different...

I think in a year or two, people won't feel the need to have two separate devices. Even if they prefer a certain brand, I think they'll be satisfied with what their phone offers.... we already have the iPhone with the ipod player and Windows Phone 7 with its zune player by the end of the year... you gotta think google is planning to improve considering both their competitors will be offering something good

I sure Google wiil. They have so many irons in the fire right now with Android, Chrome, Chrome OS, Youtube, etc. ..

I keep hearing a music service is coming before the year is out. So I'm sure they have improvements in the works.

Re: EVO as ipod replacement?

Yes and no. I would use this as my only music player but my new headunit i just installed in my car has a nice UI for the ipod. If I could contol my Evo on the headunit's screen like I do the ipod then no doubt I would. BUT...I didnt spend over $1100 on a headunit to not be able to fully use it, so I bought a used ipod classic on ebay. I wish I didnt have to and believe me I did not want to by an Apple product, that why I bought used becasue I refuse to give my money to Apple. I wish more companies would recognize Android as being a huge/popular market and make more components functional/compatible with them. So many companys recognize Ipod/Iphone and make docks, speakers, cases, charges, UI's and a ton of stuff for them. They never did for WinMo but I'm hoping that Android will change that...
