I you need to 1 click root, I would suggest against rooting.. Once rooted you can REALLY permanently damage your phone.

Don't know what your ta lking about. 1 click root is less likely to brick your phone. I did my first root on evo with the unrevoked 3.2 and it was awesome. I would never do the long way unless you really have too. Plus once phone is rooted there are plenty of forums where you can hey help to do lots of stuff. Now I can wifi tether for free.

Yes once nandroid rooted you can do more damage but you can also do more good. I don't think you can access adb shell or use root explorer with unrevoked. The biggest thing is that you can use all roms and totally remove the crapware.
There are roms like fresh for example that you need full access. So having unrevoked and picking the wrong Rom isn't good either. And there are so many kernels that are out that you would be missing out on

I used Unrevoked 3.2 and Root Explorer with no problems at all.

Custom ROM's are always the way to go IMO... It's like buying a stock corvette (evo), than upgrading it to a C6 package (custom rom), night and day difference...

Re: New phone and unsure how to do what I want to do HTC EVO

Very true but all I wanted was the ability to whack the sprint bloatware off my phone. The easy way was the best for me in my situation.

I just went through the process and it was easy,. I have the Superusers icon in my menu now. How do I delete the Sprint stuff?

go into systems, then apps then pick the app (like football) and push on it until a main menu comes up and delete is a option, as it rename.

I'm in systems > manage applications and I'm clicking on Nascar. And no menu is coming up. Any ideas?

I also tried Auto starts utility to stop apps from starting automatically, but it doesn't keep the apps from starting.

Re: New phone and unsure how to do what I want to do HTC EVO

Systems then apps; you will see two of many of those bloatware programs. Then tap each program and hold it for a few seconds and a bigger menu will come up. OBTW then phone has to be rooted or this will not be possible. Any more information in greater detail you'll have to ask someone else as this was my first ever rooted phone; it worked well for me. Loads of great info here on this forum and on the internet.

As for the apps turning on themselves, they will it all depends on what your settings are on syncing and it you allow those apps access to the net etc... I would shut down the Amazon app and not 2 minutes later it would be running again, shut it down and the dame thing would finally be turned off for a few hours. The Facebook apps will run all the time no matter how many times you force shut them down, and IMO they are a huge waste of battery life and your own personal security.
