Android started at 1.0 if I'm not mistaken.. I believe it was the T-Mobile G1.. But I'm positive it didn't start at 2.0 though..

I believe he was talking about The Droid not Android...but I digress.

I have Gingerbread on my Evo right now. I got a little on it when I was eating a Gingerbread man. :)

Sorry, that doesn't fit the alphabetical order Google uses :p

I never noticed this trend. Thanks

In response to the topic, I would say things are looking descent to get gingerbread on the EVO. Both HTC and Sprint have really been on top of pushing out updates for the evolution.

The Droid is a Motorola phone that runs Android. It came out with 2.0. Was then upgraded to 2.1, and was just recently updated to 2.2...

Google has also made a statement that the "high end phones" will have the likes of 2.1, 2.2, 3.0 and the lower models will stay at 1.5, 1.6. I foresee there being no issues in getting Gingerbread when it is released.

Re: Is the EVO getting Gingerbread?

Not sure. The EVO was to be a "corner turning" release, much as the iPhone. It was to redefine Sprint in the marketplace, and has to some degree. If I was on the board of directors, I would ask what else was in the pipeline and if their was nothing impressive, I would them them to release Gingerbread.

Sprint has done a terrible job of marking Evo. Is there is jingle that you can remember? "I got an app for that..." There is a market trade-off for promotion to penetration but I think they need to promote more. Their stock is creeping back up and making the day-traders a few $s, but otherwise it is in the crapper. I got out at $5 and today it trade at $4.40.
Sprint is more or less a holding company for a telcom and do not see the world through Apple eyes.

Sad!

Also gotta remember, that there is an EVO size device with a keyboard coming to Verizon from HTC. This will prob only be an exclusive for 30 - 90 days. Also Snapdragon has 1.5 dual core CPUs completed.

Sprint will want to make an EVO 2 and EVO 2 Pro soon. :-)

Re: Is the EVO getting Gingerbread?

Gingerbread will happen. Its realy a matter of if its released on time. Its probably being designed and worked on for the Nexus and the Nexus will probably be the first to recieve it and then the other phones will follow in a similar order to 2.2.

I mean what are the requirments for Gingerbread I doubt there anymore then the 2.2 requirments.
