Newbie Question - About Rooting/Removing Stock Apps

Hey guys, I am a Android newbie, but have been reading like crazy and still cant wrap my head around a few things. I want to run the stock ROM, and have installed z4root and wifi tether which works for what I need. Is how do I uninstall the stock apps like Nascar and Amazon MP3 service without rooting? If I do root, how do I remove them? Is it Titanium Backup? I install Advanced Task Killer, which seems cool, but why do I always shows apps running that I did not launch? Is there a way to control/stop apps from starting up? Thanks guys for the help! Jason

Re: Newbie Question - About Rooting/Removing Stock Apps

you can use TB or use this to remove system apps
SystemApp Remover - Android app on AppBrain

i dont use advanced task killer android is good at clear memory when it needs it

as for why apps auto start is so they come up quicker like the camera so you can take that shot quicker so you don't have to wait for it to load

Re: Newbie Question - About Rooting/Removing Stock Apps

You will need to be rooted to remove pre-installed apps. I recommend you back up all apps before tinkering. There are some apps with dependancies that can cause trouble if removed. Sprint Zone comes to mind.
